About the event
We're partnering with the Pitt State Spanish Club to celebrate Day of the Dead, also known as Día de Muertos, and you are invited to join in, learn more about the celebration, and enjoy a cup of Abuelita (Mexican hot chocolate) we'll have for sale during the event!
Day of the Dead is traditionally celebrated on Nov. 1-2 in Mexico and other Latin countries to help celebrate deceased loved ones.
Francisco Castaneda, a senior in Early Childhood and Spanish and vice president of the Pitt State Spanish Club, and Ben Montague, a senior in Nursing and Spanish and president of Spanish Club, are working with children in the ESOL program in Pittsburg Community Schools on art projects to create an ofrenda -- a table that is decorated and covered with things such as photographs, flowers, and candles for Day of the Dead.
