Coffeehouse & Creperie

in the heart of Pittsburg, Kansas

Root inside.jpg
it's a Root thing

Locally owned, locally operated. A cozy and inviting gathering spot for the community and visitors since 2015, located in the heart of a vibrant downtown.

A stone's throw from boutiques, a men's mercantile, a bookstore, an art gallery, restaurants, and a

4-minute drive from Pittsburg State University.

Original tile ceilings.

Original mosaic floors.

Friendly baristas.

Locally roasted beans, locally baked desserts. Made to order crepes. Bagels to enjoy while you work on your laptop using our wi-fi. Teas and smoothies you can sip on comfy couches or in the front window with a view of the historic Colonial Fox Theatre.

Art and plants for sale, monthly live music and poetry, a Little Free Library, and gathering spaces for groups.

In short: a vibe.

It's a Root thing.

our coffee

Let’s start with our beans, because that’s where all great coffee starts. We serve our signature Root Blend by Signet Coffee Roasters and two other delicious choices — Bearded Lady Roasters in nearby Joplin, Missouri, and Rendezvous Coffee Roasters in nearby Baxter Springs, Kansas — to give you a dark, medium, and light option.

Great coffee also calls for great baristas, and we have ‘em. They know how to pull and pour. When you become a repeat customer, they'll remember your name.

And, we have options for making it fancy. Specialty drinks. Frozen drinks. All the variations of espresso.

If you can dream it up, we're pretty sure they can make it.

our teas

Andra loves the smell of Brad's coffee, but it’s tea she prefers to drink, and chai latte is at the top of her list. As in, a hot mug of it every. Single. Morning.

Choose a vanilla or spiced chai, or go old school and select from a variety of Rishi loose-leaf options. Or, order something a bit more trendy: a London Fog or Matcha Latte.

Prefer it iced? We can make that, too.

Buy a scone to go with it, grab a book from our Little Free Library or a puzzle from our game nook and you have all the makings of a perfect Saturday afternoon.

our crepes & bagels

You haven’t lived until you’ve tried our specialty crepes hot off the crepe maker — from The Gorilla (a fave of Pitt State fans!) with Nutella, marshmallow creme, bananas, homemade whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup, to Apple Pie with homemade apple pie filling, a caramel drizzle, and whipped cream. Or, try one of your own design: choose from our list of fillings and toppings.

With four choices of bagels — including a gluten free option — and more than a dozen toppings, if you leave here hungry it’s not our fault.

Coming soon! We’ll be rolling out two bagel sandwich options and two snack box options!
